Blower door testing is a way to check the "leakiness" of a home. By depressurizing (pulling air out of a home) and measuring the rate at which air leaks in through openings in the building envelope, we are able to assess how much energy (and money) is escaping through air leaks. Knowing the total amount of air leakage and where the leaks are located helps us determine the most effective strategy to improve your home.
Before we consider an energy retrofit job complete, we use the blower door as our final step to check our work and measure the improvement achieved by our services.
